Summarize the plot in 10-15 sentences.
Jerry (main character and protagonist) is on a holiday with his mother (a widow) at a beach. The fact that they said he knew it so well, tells you it could be a routinely vacation (at that location). The boy who is highly adventures spotted the “wild and rocky bay”, and was determined to explore. His over protected mother allowed him to explore and leave the protected beach where he usually played. The older boys swimming near him grabbed his attention, but he keeps a distance until one wave at him (they made him feel unwelcoming and already formed their own clique). He was so interested in the boys that he did not even notice their thought and feelings towards him (they dislike him, because he was a foreigner). He then acts in a way (like a foolish dog) that cause the boys to leave (they were leaving to get away from him). He was motivated to improve his skill in swimming and demanded for his mother to buy him goggles (his battle to transform from boy to man was born). He then stared exercising each day, through the pain (nose-bleeds, exhaustion, and dizziness) the water caused on his lungs. While he improved more day by day, his mother worried herself more day by day. After his goal was completed and he knew what it was like to be man, he interest in this new adventure has diminished and also his interest in the older boys. He was satisfied through his success and wanted to go back to the protected beach and away from the wild and rocky bay (he was more man than child now).

Describe the main characters in 5-10 sentences.
Jerry is a young English boy who is 11 years old. In the story you could realize that he felt isolated and wanted to be part of the teenage boy’s clique. His isolation can clearly be understood for he had only his mother to hang out with and was fatherless. Jerry’s mother do not want to make him feel like a “mommy’s boy”, and he tries to avoid her as much as possible, but he still relies heavily on her (Always checking if she still there, when he’s scared). The birth of Jerry’s transformation from boy to teenager to man began the first time he met the teenage boys. Through his transformation you notice characteristic strength, determinant and bravery. At the end he met his goals and was more mature (could be seen with the conversation he had with his mother).
